Current mission involvement

Spreading the good news about Jesus is the primary call of all Christians and at VanChurch we are partnering with missionaries overseas and in our local community to help make that happen. We are currently involved in both long term and short term mission initiatives

Long term missions

Andrew and Aimee Jo Martin

The Martin family lives and works in Mbarara, Uganda. As the second wave of missionaries in that region, they are working to provide devolopment projects, training, and resources for existing churches to becoming self-sustaining and self-supporting. Andrew works extensively with Farming God's Way, a program designed to teach subsistance farmers to get the most yield from their land using biblical farming principles.

After 14 years as youth minister in apple-growing Wenatchee, Johnathan Thomas and his family followed the Holy Spirit’s call into the harvest orchard as church planters. They and their teammates are engaging in the lives of the people they meet, watching for the places where God breaks into each person’s life story with his mercy. They are practicing being the invited, carrying God’s love into the places people live, work, and play.  You can read more about this ministry in their newsletter!

Jay Don and Mary Lee Rogers

Jay Don and Mary Lee have been supported by the Vancouver Church for more than 30 years, first in their work with the church in Delta, British Columbia, and now with their work in Donetsk, Ukraine. They work with the Ukarinian Bible Institue (UBI) to train and equip teachers, preachers, and evangelists to further the work across the Ukraine. The Rogers have formed close relationships with hospitals and orphanages in Donetsk and are active in sharing the love of Jesus with people through providing for their physical needs.

Currently the Rogers are helping relocate UBI and commence classes in Kiev. Prayers for the Rogers and for those they know and love in the war-torn Ukraine are appreciated.  Your emails and notes are a great encouragement to Jay Don and Mary Lee.

short term missions

Mexico Missions - club quest

Club Quest is a week long mission trip to El Zorillo, Mexico. During our time in this Baja village we build simple wood-frame houses for families living in poverty and at the end of the week present each family with a Bible and a key to their new home. Each house costs around $7,500 to build and the cost of materials is covered by funds raised throughout the year. The trip takes place each year in mid-July. While there our workers sleep in tents or rudimentary cabins at a campground in Punta Banda. Click HERE for more information.

tuba city, Arizona

The VanChurch youth are involved in a summer mission trip to the Navajo Indian Reservation at Tuba City, AZ. On this trip they provide service through construction projects as well as organizing and implementing a Vacation Bible School. While the purpose of the trip is first and foremost to serve the community of Tuba City and the mission located there the youth are challenged to grow spiritually themselves through goals and expectations set out months before the trip.
