Bright Beginnings In November 2004 the elders at the Vancouver Church of Christ began looking ahead to the following year when the congregation would move from its temporary location at Heritage High School to a new facility on Padden Parkway. The Vancouver Church of Christ has a vision to see Vancouver residents come to know Christ. Its mission is to reach out to the community through service in an effort to connect with people and introduce them to the church family. To be "a church this is relevant and accessible to the community it serves". To facilitate reaching to to the community in meaningful ways the elders asked a group of three women who ran the MOMs group, Cindy Hanna, Kara Corley, and Kelly Cash, to research the need for daycares and preschools in the area and the pros and cons of each. This Preschool Start-up Committee began its work in 2005. After exhaustive research, site visits, and prayer, the committee recommended that a preschool would be a more effective program. In the spring of 2006 the committee asked for volunteers from the congregation to form a Preschool Oversight Committee. Three members, Michael Block, Christine Lawton, and Susan Maxwell volunteered. Together these two committees, along with much input from Mike Pearsol, recommended creating the Bright Beginnings Preschool in partnership with Columbia Christian Schools.
