PUMP Portland Urban Ministries Project

In 2000, PUMP was launched in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Portland, OR. The aim of this team of young church planters was to reach a generation of inner city people by reaching the children. Through programs like children's worship and a summer reading program, PUMP has been doing just that.

PUMP is all about service. Their belief is that by connecting those with something to offer with those in need of those services, people's lives will be touched. And while they hope to change lives on a physical level, they ultimately seek to see lives changed in eternal ways, by connecting people with their creator.

Though we don't support them on a congregational level, many of our members are involved in supporting PUMP through prayer, financial contributions and volunteering. Some of our members volunteer with PUMP's summer reading program. Others take meals to the congregation one Sunday a month. Still others offer support through the PUMP dinner each year or through serving in other capacities.

Visit the PUMP website for more info on what they're about or how to volunteer. Add PUMP to your prayer list as they minister in another culture just across the river.
