Ukraine-Jay Don and Mary Lee Rogers

After serving five years as preacher for the Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland, Texas, God seemed to be calling Jay Don and Mary Lee back into mission work. Through the efforts of a godly man, J. T. Bristow, and the mission committee in Vancouver, they moved to Vancouver, Washington, in October of 1980. The Andresen Church of Christ (now called the Vancouver Church of Christ) there had agreed to take on their support and eventually move them to British Columbia, Canada, to start a new congregation. They moved to Tsawwassen, B.C. in August of 1981 and started the Delta congregation. On moving day, with God's sense of humor, Mary Lee found out she and Jay Don were expecting their fourth child.

The next 20 years were spent working with the church in Delta, British Columbia. It was a great highlight in their lives and their four children were basically raised there. The first 15 or so years were just the best they could have dreamed with a church. "There were ups and downs but we loved our work in Canada and have always been thankful for the love and care given to us from Vancouver," Jay Don and Mary Lee said.

In the Fall of 1994 Jay Don started making two month-long trips a year to Omsk, Siberia. He loved the "up" these trips to Russia gave him. Mary Lee got to go along in 1998 and 2000. They both fell in love with the Russian people and the Lord's work going on there and in most former Soviet countries.

In November of 2000 Jay Don and Mary Lee made another trip to Omsk, Siberia, and then on over to Donetsk, Ukraine, for a survey of a Bible school there that is a branch school of Sunset International Bible Institute. This made 13 trips to Omsk for Jay Don. Sunset International Bible School in Lubbock, Texas knew of this and ask Jay Don if he would be willing to move to Donetsk and direct the Ukrainian Bible Institute. After a look and a LOT of prayer Jay Don and Mary Lee made a five year commitment to work in Donetsk, Ukraine. They are now actually in their 6 th year there. It has been an incredible work with the students and with a great amount of work with the hospitals and orphanages in Donetsk, Ukraine.

They spend their time directing the Bible school and arranging contributions of supplies and equipment for orphanages and hosptials in Ukraine.

Vancouver has continued to support the Rogers through these years. To keep up with what the Rodgers are doing, you can email them.
